Gingins u11s at the u11 GRYCC Summer Cup

u11 GRYCC Summer Cup - 17th-18th April 2021

A Gingins CC/Geneva Region CC joint u11 team took the field at the u11 GRYCC Summer Cup at the picturesque Bout Du Monde cricket ground in Geneva.

The team first played a friendly against our u9 Dragonflies,

GCC+GRYCC 80/2(16) bt Zurich+CCC 75/8(15.1)

The team then fought off a strong Zurich/CCC side in a nail-biting last over finish.

A strong batting performance saw us put up a fighting total of 80/2 in 16 overs. Anhad 20*(20) and Aaditya 13*(20) did the bulk of the scoring after a strong start from Eddie 9*(20) and Reuben 9(20).

In response, Zurich/CCC, while scoring runs at a good rate, lost wickets regularly. The match came down to the last over with Zurich/CCC needing 6 runs to win and Tejas 19(26) at the crease. It was the Anhad(b)/Aadi(c) combo again as the best friends ended the match on the first ball of the over. Kai (2-4 in 2) and Jhonti (2-19 in 3) were the pick of the bowlers, Anhad, Ananya and Samanya also took a wicket each.

GCC+GRYCC 52/5(16) lost to Basel+CCC 53/3(12.5)

The team went down to a very strong and accurate Basel/CCC bowling line up. Batting first, our boys were restricted to 52/5 with none of the batters able to trouble the scorers too much. Basel scored the required runs with ease. Anhad, Eddie and Jhonti took a wicket each.

The final was a repeat of the league game. Basel restricted us to 70 odd runs and scored the runs with a few overs to spare.
